Day 1: Project 64% Funded!! / Jealous of a Tree Excerpt

THANK YOU FOR AN AWESOME FIRST DAY OF FUNDING!

I am setting up this blog for those who have supported the Kickstarter, or who are thinking of doing so, to give a deeper look at the book, and maybe to even have a bit more of a discussion and input as to how the project progresses.

There are 30 days in the project, and 30 stories in the compilation, so for each day I plan to post one fan sketch (just for fun, not to be used as illustration in the book), along with an excerpt from one of the stories.

Today's story:

JEALOUS OF A TREE
Woman hugging a tree as she is chained to it
Fan Sketch by Roger Whiting :)

EXCERPT:

Her eyes awoke from a state of slumber. A brown curl fell on her face. She looked drowsy and a bit confused. Her face looked unappealing, mushed up.

What are you doing?”

She rubbed her eyes and opened them wide.

Protecting the tree.”

It has to go. Otherwise it will poison the other trees around here. You know that.” He didn’t really care one way or the other. She was just embarrassing him.It doesn’t matter.”

Her eyes looked fondly on it. She ran her delicate hands over the tree, taking time to feel its bumps. It has seniority.”
